Novagryl P19 (19gsm)

Novagryl offers a unique structure particularly suited to farmers of high growth crops. Designed with excellent extensibility without the loss of the other general properties, it expands in response to plant growth to retain integrity, act as a barrier to insects and provide thermal protection.

Root and bulb vegetables

Root and bulb vegetables ►

Crops such as Radish, Carrot and Crops from the Allium family. All these vegetables are mainly sown. Their growth and yield can be enhanced by a structure that maintains the hygrometry necessary to improve the germination rate. Fleece with good homogeneity can prevent damage and compaction in the soil structure. Combined with rain this can cause the formation of a "crust" that is hard for seedlings to pierce. Crop cover creates a good thermal effect which improves seedling growth.

Leaf and stem vegetables

Leaf and stem vegetables ►

These vegetables can be either sown or planted. Planted crops are generally sensitive to shocks caused by temperature and humidity variation. Using a floating row cover can significantly reduce the risk of these shocks. Sown crops require a fleece to reduce crusting and maintain the humidity and thermal effect necessary to have a uniform germination. They generally have an important vegetative development.

Stem Crop (Robust)

Stem Crop (Robust) ►

The main robust stem crop is Sweetcorn. Achieving significant vertical growth before harvest requires a cover with extensibility. As a sown vegetable, Sweetcorn requires special properties of the fleece. Specifically a structure that maintains the hygrometry necessary to improve the germination rate and homogeneity that prevents damage and compaction to the soil structure. Crops also need a good thermal effect to improve seedling growth.

Leguminous vegetables

Peas and Beans of all types are covered from late winter through until typically mid May. The regularity of germination is the key for a good sowing. The fleece increases the uniformity and the speed of germination by preserving the soil structure, maintaining the humidity and increasing the temperature.

Ornamentals

Ornamentals ►

Ornamentals includes lawn, young trees and ornamentals in nurseries. Fleece is used for overwintering of the plants in container and ensures an optimal winter protection against:

  • breaking of the exposed parts of the plants (frost, snow, wind)
  • dehydration of twigs, buds and leaves (conifers and evergreen plants)
  • bursting of branches
  • asphyxiation of the roots
  • freezing of the plant
  • sudden variations of temperature

It also protects the lawns in the case of global sowing or in case of overseeding.

Application Technology

Crops with fast growth characteristics require specific product performance. Novagryl P19 offers ultra high extensibility. The 44% extra roll direction extension aids integrity and reduces crop interference.

This ability to grow more as the plant grows helps farmers protect robust stem crops such as sweet corn which require integral crop cover during periods of significant growth.

The extensibility is also beneficial in delicate, easily damaged crops such as lettuce and herbs, where the extensibility helps the plant to grow with reduced resistance from the protective layer. Novagryl is created using a unique 3 layer manufacturing process that gives very high levels of homogeneity whilst maintaining the high levels of air permeability required for a stable micro-climate.

Through state of the art welding Novagryl can be produced in widths from 3.2m to 30m wide. Standard sizes allow selection from stock, to meet the delivery needs of changing weather conditions. When longer term planning is more feasible, custom widths are possible to ensure optimum coverage which reduces roll out times, storage requirements and fleece waste.

Open Fields

Open Fields ►

Open Field applications require a robust fleece design with the ability for farmers to specify the exact performance requirements for their needs. Strength, moisture and light management and durablity are all critical.
