Agryl M

This black heavy weight product is formulated to improve soil temperatures and suppress weed growth as a mulching layer. Good permeability ensures water and air reach the plant base and maintain root humidity whilst avoiding surface water accumulation helping clean effective harvests.

Fruit vegetables, cucurbits and soft fruits

Fruit vegetables, cucurbits and soft fruits ►

Typical crops include strawberry, melon, zucchini, & cucumber. These plants have rough leaves and stems which can abrade and penetrate floating row covers. These vegetables, usually planted, need temperature and humidity to take properly. They generally have an important vegetative development

Leaf and stem vegetables

These vegetables can be either sown or planted. Planted crops are generally sensitive to shocks caused by temperature and humidity variation. Using a floating row cover can significantly reduce the risk of these shocks. Sown crops require a fleece to reduce crusting and maintain the humidity and thermal effect necessary to have a uniform germination. They generally have an important vegetative development.

Ornamentals

Ornamentals ►

Ornamentals includes lawn, young trees and ornamentals in nurseries. Fleece is used for overwintering of the plants in container and ensures an optimal winter protection against:

  • breaking of the exposed parts of the plants (frost, snow, wind)
  • dehydration of twigs, buds and leaves (conifers and evergreen plants)
  • bursting of branches
  • asphyxiation of the roots
  • freezing of the plant
  • sudden variations of temperature

It also protects the lawns in the case of global sowing or in case of overseeding.

Young Plants

Young Plants ►

Young plants include both vegetables and ornamentals that are grown under cover in nurseries before planting.
To maintain the optimum temperature and soil humidity, planted seeds are covered with Agryl. The plant growth is then early and uniform.
The duration of covering depends on the sensitivity of the species to high temperature.

Focused on surface layer application, this black fleece balances the openness required to avoid pooling and surface water retention, whilst blocking sufficient light in the 700-1400nm range that promotes weed growth.

Application Technology

Agryl M is a mulch fleece developed to increase crop yield and reduce the impacts of weeds in cultivation.

Suitable for long term crops, in greenhouse and in open field installations, the open structure of the fleece brings specific properties compared to other types of plastic mulch.

Root humidity is maintained by allowing the transmission of water and nutriments through the cover to the crops. As a consequence, the need and the cost of irrigation are reduced and plant re-growth is enhanced.

Leaf rot is reduced as water accumulation is reduced. Moreover the relatively high air porosity creates a good aeration of the plant neck. This results in a healthy and clean crop, which improves the commercial yield.

Favourable development of soil micro-organisms beneficial to plant growth is enabled through the development of a favourable micro-climate.

Agryl M increases the retention of soil temperature imparted by near IR solar radiation and as a result root temperatures are elevated which drives crop growth.

As the light transmission is very low, Agryl M prevents weed growth. It protects the soil structure in case of heavy rain and external aggressions and ensures the crop stays clean despite rain and irrigation drops. Its thermal effect protects the roots against sudden temperature variation.
