Brassica Crops

Cabbage, Cauliflower & Kale are all examples of this category. Planted in March - April these are typically covered to ensure the root development. This typically requires covering for about 4 to 6 weeks depending on the species. At the beginning of spring, the soil temperature limits rapid root growth and cold wind can inhibit the vegetative development of the plants. The combined wind-break and greenhouse effect of crop covers allow a rapid growth and effective protection of the foliage.

Cabbage / White Heart

Cabbage / White Heart

Planted in late spring and covered for approximately 4 to 6 weeks, Cabbage harvests can be accelerated by up to 14 days. Depending on location low to mid weights of Agryl are recommended. Earliness and uniformity of the cropping are improved. Fleece also extends the period of crop production.

Broccoli

Broccoli

Planting out about Mid March, Agryl is maintained on the crops for a 4 to 6 weeks period. Covering allows a uniform and early cropping (about 10 days). Agryl is ideal because of its air permeability.

Kohl Rabi

Kohl Rabi

Planting out at the beginning of March, Kohl Rabi are covered until the roots have grown to 3 - 4 cm. The use of Agryl increases the uniformity and the earliness of the yield (about 10 days) and reduces the risk of bolting.

Cauliflower

Cauliflower

Planting out in March, Cauliflowers are covered for 5 to 6 weeks with Agryl (17 or 19 gsm) which provides a good air flow. Using the fleece allows a uniform and early (10 to 15 days) yield.

Open Fields

Open Fields ►

Open Field applications require a robust fleece design with the ability for farmers to specify the exact performance requirements for their needs. Strength, moisture and light management and durablity are all critical.
